Published in 1910 at the end of his career and just five years before his death, The Man Farthest Down is a record of Booker T. Washington's final travels through Europe. He dedicated much of his professional life to studying race relations in the United States, so these European observations offer an invaluable historical record from which to compare and contrast. He has also included examination of worker relations including child labor, strikes and the role of women in Sicily.
