Description

'I'm 39 years old, happily married and my womb has never been inhabited. I want a baby but not in that crazy, desperate way where I cringe whenever I see someone else with one, or I think nasty, evil thoughts about people who are pregnant, but a child of my own would complete my life and make my husband extremely happy.'

Jay-Jay Feeney has been married to Dom Harvey since 2004. She always imagined they'd get married, have children, grow old. But so far, things haven't worked out quite as she expected. A high-profile job, an unpredictable family life, and medical procedures and emergencies have kept her on her toes.

Misconception is Jay-Jay's story, told with a mix of brutal honesty and her trademark humour, in which she charts the highs and lows of life lived both in the public gaze and in the shadow of infertility.

Jay jay, for the past three years since moving out of the country side, I have been listening to you and Dom on the radio and always felt so happy listening to you both and seeing and hearing the love you both have for one another. Since reading your book I have learnt so much about you and the pain you have had to endure. I wish you both the best luck if you do try again and to a happy, healthy future together. Amazing book, read in two days flat. Amazing. Kia kaha xx

I could not put this book down once I started to read it. I really felt grateful that they both opened their lives to the reader, and what was happening to them showed me it was a privilege given to us folk who can easily conceive and showed me the struggles for those who can't. I wish them both every happiness in the future, baby or no baby.

A heartwarming story. Such a mixture of emotions. I am really glad that Jay-Jay was able to so eloquently put her experience down on paper. It has made telling our own stories to friends and family that much easier. Infertility is such a devastating problem to have to deal with. I fell honoured that Jay-Jay shared her story with us.

Interesting, funny yet sad book to read. Hard to imagine the trial and tribulations of going through this. Gave me an insight to the struggles of fertility and then the sacrifices people go through.

The fact I felt like I 'know' Jay Jay and Dom probably aided the emotional aspect of this book. I've listened to both of them for many years and I found their honestly about their struggle to conceive heart wrenching. I'm a slow reader so it took three days for me to complete it and I have to admit to several tears along the way. I wish them both all the luck in the world, thank you for providing an insight into Ivf and giving me a new appreciation of my own Babies.

Thanks for your book Jay-Jay - I really enjoyed reading it, I have been quite sad at times that I wasn't able to have a girl - I love my 3 boys to pieces but reading your book helped to remember how lucky I truly am and to be thankful for what I have - I just wish you could experience being a biological mother!

This book brought tears to my eyes, an inspiring read from an amazing woman who has found love, hope and happiness despite all of the tough times life has thrown at her. My partner and I are about to start down the IVF route ourselves with Dr Fisher. This book has given us the best heads up possible about the journey ahead!
